#Customizing a template
Templates are starting points, not locked designs. Once a template is loaded in the form builder, you have full control to change anything:
- Add fields — Drag new fields from the left sidebar onto the canvas
- Remove fields — Delete any fields you do not need
- Reorder fields — Drag fields up or down to rearrange them
- Edit field settings — Click any field to change its label, placeholder, required status, options, and other settings
- Change the design — Switch the layout type, input style, colors, and fonts in the Design tab
- Update after-submit behavior — Customize the thank-you message, redirect URL, or discount code
- Set up emails — Configure admin notifications and customer auto-responders
- Connect integrations — Link the form to Google Sheets, Mailchimp, Slack, or any other supported service
The template simply gives you a head start. Everything about the form can be changed before or after publishing.
#Templates vs. AI generator
Not sure whether to start with a template or the AI generator? Here is a quick comparison:
| Templates | AI Generator | |
|---|---|---|
| Speed | Instant — loads immediately | A few seconds to generate |
| Customization | Pre-built structure you modify | Generated based on your description |
| Styling | Uses default styling | Generates a custom color scheme and font |
| Best for | Standard use cases with known layouts | Unique or specific form requirements |
| Plan limits | Unlimited use on all plans | Monthly limit based on your plan |
You can also combine both approaches — start with a template, then use the AI generator to build a different section or generate ideas for field combinations.
